Welcome to Grace Thorne Yoga
I just want to start off by saying a big thank you for all who have helped me through the steps of getting GTY up and on its feet, don’t forget to come and receive your complementary yoga session.
Yoga has been something within my life for a number of years and the main people I have to thank about that is my family and the people around me.
They have led me to a more holistic way of living and carved my path in so many ways.
Yoga for me is not just the ability to place the body in the postures, but more about the ability the mind has to allow the body into the postures.
The path the mind takes to gain the needed inner focus and concentration to develop the yoga practise, but more importantly develop the individual as a ‘whole’.
Another GTY yoga course has finished and it was amazing tosee the individual progression of everybody throughout the course. One of the simplest aspects, but also one of the hardest in yoga is ‘breathing’. As the course progressed it was great to see the class grasp the yogic breathing and how to put it into practise when in a posture. The more you practice, the more it will become the body’s second nature to draw more energy in and expel the stored tension.
I will be running my next 6 week GTY course commencing Monday 25th July, 7pm at Excel Health & Performance.
The weeks can run away from us and feel as if we never really get our list ticked off, but in the last couple of weeks I have made a conscious effort to make the time for research. I have consciously sat down, tried to put the usual distractions to one side and got on with a little research I am focusing on at the moment. I have been using many sources and one of which has helped me greatly is the Sky channel and website of Body in Balance TV. It’s amazing that by giving myself that little bit of time, how it gives my mind focus and direction with my career.
This week try it yourself, sit down in a place in your home that you feel comfortable in and put down on to paper the realistic things you want to achieve in the week. Write it down, visualise it and make the time for you and see how you feel once you have ticked it off your list.
Finally, this weekend I am taking part in the London to Southend bike ride – I am hoping that the weather will stay dry for us cyclists! I will be focussing on my breathing here as breathing correctly is a vital part of riding. I keep meaning to watch David Moreno’s DVD on Yoga for Cyclists; I will let you know how I get on once I have watched it.
Om Shanti
